MTN - Content Services
My account was been billed for Content Charge of R1.74 this month. I know the amount is incidental, but this is not the first time this has happened to me, so when I renewed this contract I was expressly told MTN that I did not ever want to subscribe to any content services. I was assured that it was not possible for these charges to be billed to this account as this option was deactivated. Yeah right!
MTN's response was, "Please note that with some content subscription just by browsing on certain sites they subscribe you, unfortunately we cannot tell which sites are those as every individual browses different sites and for different reasons, please use the USSD code to check if you have any content charge subscriptions *136*5#.
For any dispute regarding Wasp content subscription/ deductions, please lodge a complaint directly with Waspa via www.waspa.org.za"
You have no recourse, if you deduct the amount from your bill, MTN will cut-off all your services, not just the account you are querying - everything gets cut-off.
Obviously, registering your dispute with WASPA was a complete waste of time - you don't even get an email confirming your dispute was registered.
You can't even find who or what subscribed you to a service that you expressly said at the outset, you didn't want. All you can do is pay the amount and try to cancel the content service.
MTN, you suck! You are a bunch of rouges! It is no wonder Nigeria is raising fines against your company.
My misery with MTN continues :(
