MTN completely ignores my emails, debits account with R 16 000 and ends a twenty year relationship.

My son's phone had gone missing and he thought he mislaid it.My son is on my contract with MTN but with a monthly limit(+- R 160 pm). We did not cancel the contract because we were under the firm believe that the risk is only R 160 if it had in fact been ******. We realised something was wrong when I received a sms notification from MTN that there is extremely high usage on my son's cellphone account (R12 000). I dialled all the help lines but to no avail. We visited the branch (Brooklyn) where we enquired about the sms received. We were informed that someone had phoned overseas running up a R 12 000 bill. We argued that the phone was obviously ****** and someone else used it and that my son's phone had a limit. We were told that someone changed the contract to an "open contract" in August 2015 and MTN will insist to recover the said amount. I disputed this and queried MTN via email because the branch could do nothing further. I emailed MTN on 20June2016, 5 July 2016, 12 July 2016 and 29 July 2016. Apart from the acknowledgement of receipts I have not received one single proper reply. UNBELIEVABLE that I received NO SERVICE at all from ********** ! I have just seen that my account was debited with R 16 000 without any communication from MTN.My contract with MTN averages at least R 4 000 per month and I have been a loyal customer for twenty years. My contract ends in November and I will then end my relationship with MTN even though it will be a lot of admin to change. I told them this in my email correspondence and they did not even reply once ! They did not even say it is unfortunate but it is my responsibilty etc. Be warned that your limited contract is not really limited. I will join any of the other cellphone companies because I cannot imagine them being worse at customercare than MTN.
