I am a Vodacom subscriber and received a message last night after I was sound asleep thanking me for subscribing to soccer TV at R2.02 per day on mtnplay.co.za. There was also an option to opt out by dialling *464*970# or to contact MTN Play by dialling 135.
Needless to say, I have never been on the MTN site nor have I ever subscribed to any any service. I contacted Vodacom and they suggested I send an SMS with the word STOP to 31050 to unsubscribe to any WASP service, which I did.
I am sure that if I had used either of the MTN options MTN PLAY would have receive some form of remuneration, and that is why I chose the Vodacom route.
I find MTN's behaviour in this regard totally ********* as wel as **********, and I am sorely tempted to lay a charge of ***** at the SAPS. I will in any event contact Carte Blanche and see if they want to run an exposé on this sort of ****.
Good day Andre,
Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns and affording us the opportunity to address the same. Kindly accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Kindly note that we cannot remove a charge on a vodacom line as we do not have access to your line. Vodacom should have their own USSD codes for you to block any content charges.
Kind regards,
Ishie.
