MTN CloudPlay is a Ghost Service Run by a Second-Rate Network

If you enjoy paying for services you can’t access and being ignored by staff who clearly don't want to be there, then MTN is the network for you. For everyone else, stay far away from MTN CloudPlay.

The "RICA" Roadblock and Paid-For Failure I started by jumping through the hoops of getting a SIM and going through the RICA process—a relic of the past that MTN still clings to—only to be met with immediate failure. I paid my subscription fee upfront, but that was the last "successful" part of this transaction. Despite having a paid subscription, I couldn't even log into the CloudPlay platform because the system is incapable of sending a simple OTP.

I spent three hours following every "self-service" instruction available. None worked. The system is fundamentally broken.

The Fern Branch: A Hub of Indifference Thinking a human might help where the automated system failed, I went to the MTN store at the Fern. The level of assistance was pathetic. The staff wouldn't even pick up a phone to check if the site was down or if there were known technical issues. They offered zero troubleshooting and even less empathy. It’s clear that once they have your money, you are no longer their concern.

Support by Bot: The 48-Hour Runaround After the retail failure, I turned to email. I received an automated response promising a reply in 48 hours. When that reply finally arrived, it wasn't a solution—it was another automated slap in the face telling me to "re-register in 30 days." MTN has:

Taken my money.

Wasted hours of my time.

Offered no path to a refund or a working service.

Conclusion: Is CloudPlay Even Real? A friend of mine has been facing the exact same OTP issue for weeks with no resolution. This leads me to believe that MTN CloudPlay isn't a premium gaming service; it’s a systematic way to harvest "small" subscription fees from customers who will eventually give up out of frustration.

MTN likes to market themselves as a leading African giant, but this experience proves they are a second-rate network with third-rate infrastructure. If you value your cash and your sanity, don't let them "*****" yours like they did mine.
