MTN Claims Service - phoneless for A WHOLE MONTH.

I recently put in a claim with MTN for my phone's screen that was broken - I pay insurance for this every month. At the beginning of October I went into the MTN store in Clearwater and filled in a form, assured that I would be contacted. Only when I heard nothing back after a week, I went back to the same shop and one of the personnel found the form and said that there was a detail missing on the form I filled in. So, firstly, nobody contacted me to let me know that my claim form was basically just lying there. Note that, as most people, I do most of my business on my phone. The moment this was rectified I was immediately required to pay an excess (note that nobody had even collected the phone at that stage yet, so no damage could have been assessed). I paid the excess immediately, including sending the proof of payment and correct references as requested. For 2 weeks I followed up every day and MTN Claims's only response was that they have to wait for proof of payment. I sent the proof of payment 5 times to 2 different email addresses. When I begged the lady at customer services a week after doing the payment she could not give me ANY help, regardless of the fact that I had been waiting for over 2 weeks for any help at this stage. Eventually after many calls from only my side, they confirmed that the excess had been received. I received my phone Friday 6 November, a month after handing it over for repairs. Absolutely unacceptable. And I am stuck in a 3 year contract which will just waste more of my time to try to get out of it. Here's a tip: INSURE YOUR PHONE UNDER YOUR PERSONAL INSURANCE. DO NOT TAKE MTN'S INSURANCE. It had an enormously negative effect on my business as I work for myself.
