MTN Charging Me for a Cancelled Home Internet Contract – Makes Zero Sense

I am extremely frustrated with how MTN is handling my Home Internet Data contract.

I cancelled my contract on 13 April 2026 and returned the router to the store on the same day. I also contacted the call centre and provided the required reference number to confirm the cancellation. At that point, my understanding was that everything had been properly closed.

Before cancellation, my monthly contract was approximately R340, and I had settled all outstanding balances.

However, things stopped making sense immediately after:

- I received an invoice for April, despite not using the service at all after cancellation - That invoice was supposed to be credited, but instead, it was left on my account - Now in May, I am being told my account is still active and “in use”

This is completely illogical because:

- I returned the router - I no longer have access to the SIM card - I have not used the service since cancellation

Yet somehow, my account has accumulated charges of almost R2,000, which is impossible considering the original monthly fee was only R340.

How is a service being used when I physically returned the equipment and no longer have access to it?

This clearly points to a failure on MTN’s side to properly process the cancellation, and I am now being unfairly billed for it.

I need MTN to urgently:

- Confirm that my contract is cancelled - Reverse all charges from April onwards - Explain how my account is still active and being billed

This situation is unacceptable and needs to be resolved immediately.
