MTN charges R600.00 for an early upgrade!

I received an SMS today telling me that I can upgrade my contract. I went to a MTN branch to start the process.

Firstly, on entering the branch, I was overwhelmed by all the brand reps fighting for my attention in order to rub their devices off on me. After a lot of deliberation I chose a device.

When the MTN assistant started to load my upgrade, I was casually informed that MTN changed its rules and if a customer decides to do an early upgrade (not at 24/36 months), there is a once off charge of R600.00 to be added to the next debit order!!! This was not disclosed in the SMS that I received from MTN in the morning. I opted not to upgrade.
