MTN charges after contract cancellation
Contract cancellation I had a contract BA*** with MTN with an expiry date of 20 January 2022. I gave 30 days notice on the 20th December 2021 and received a follow up sms from MTN, in which terminatation of my contract on the expiry date and changing to the Prepaid system as from the expiry date. However, at the end of January 2022, I received a bill for the full month of January. I visited my local MTN store and was told that the billing run was executed early in January 2022 and this to be the reason for not billing me only to the 20 Jan 2022. He suggested that I wait until the end to February to see if credit is passed for the portion that there was no contract. At the end of February, however, a further debit was passed for R496,06. On 2 March 2022, I logged a ticket # *** which was closed by the Accounting dept (sic), with the reason that the R496,06 was for services rendered by MTN. I now learn that MTN gave and billed me for a data package which I NEVER asked for. This is on a fully cancelled contract!!!!! I used none of this data package until it expired. In summary, MTN should refund me with: 1 The proportional amount for the period 21 to 31 January 2022 - I fully met the obligation of requesting cancellation of the contract on its expiry date. 2 Payback of the amount of R496.06 for incorrectly debitting me for data on a non existing contract. Date: 14 March 2022 Contact details: Jaco Swarts *** email: ***
