MTN cannot stop/cancell montly billing

I have been trying to stop the billing on my MTN account from mid april but no one at MTN - not even their own legal department - can assist me with this. All saying that it cannot be stopped/cancelled.

My account has been handed over and arrangements have been made to pay off the outstanding amount but each month the billing gets added. I actually want to close the account but cant. Every one saying that I can not stop billing if I have an outstanding balance,I can only stop the billing once I have paid the full outstanding amount owed to MTN.

Even though a lady named Nonlhanlha indicated to me on email that the billing has been stopped, just to receive another email from legal department saying that it cannot be done???

My contact has passed the 24 months period. I do not want the contract anymore, I am not even using the data on the contract anymore. Why can I not stop/cancel the contract and pay off the outstanding amount.

According to the consumer protection act - section 14 - a contract can be cancelled/stopped, if there is an outstanding amount owed to the consumer are still liable for the outstanding amount. Which in my case I have made arrangements with the legal company to pay the outstanding amount. So in other words I am accepting liability for the amount.

I just want the billing not to be added each month and in the end be able to settle the whole amount and close everything at MTN. But I guess I will never be able to pay off this amount as I cannot get it to be stopped. I regret the day that I actually decided to take out a contract with them. Never ever again!!
