MTN CANCELLATION PENALTY

This is so funny and I have to share how crazy MTN are ... I have a data contract that cost me R999 a month, this contract on *** comes to the end of its term on 22/3/2021, that is 48 days until it expires.

So I ask MTN retentions what I need to do to cancel it now and I am told there will be a fee :

Expiry date:2021-03-22 Early Cancellation fee = R1625.31 + 15% VAT= R1869.10 current outstanding balance = R1258.00 Estimatde total =R3127.10

So the cost to keep the contract until 22/3 will cost me R999 x2 = R1998, but to cancel it will cost me R3127.10

It is an absolute joke and given the fact that I have 3 other contracts with MTN within our household that have all expired already, there seems no incentive to actually stay with MTN.
