MTN cancellation of contract
I wrote to Hellopeter many months ago. I had a R99 contract which I missed one payment on. I received a letter from MTN (9/11/18 contract C***) saying I had a choice to continue the contract by paying the outstanding month or I could take an early cancellation charge by paying the amount as stated. I paid the charge and sent them confirmation of payment and an email confirming the contract was cancelled. Sine then MTN have handed the account over to various Attorneys who send emails and SMS's on a constant basis. I have several times sent proof of payment and on every correspondence I reply that the contract is cancelled. Now I have received an email from Norman Bissett & Associates to say the bill is now R1,089.32 and they are offering a 30% discount or my credit rating could be affected. When I last wrote to Hellopeter you rep**** to say MTN would contact me and the matter would be sorted - well no contact no matter sorted. I think it is so disgraceful that a Company like MTN cannot get it right and as for the Attorneys well they have had all the details and they cant resolve it either. What a terrible waste of time
We therefore hereby give you notice that MTN SP cancels your subscriber contract.
We remind you that, in terms of your subscriber contract, payment of the outstanding
amount as well as the following Early Cancellation Charges and Handset Subsidy Charge
becomes payable on early cancellation for any reason:
1. Overdue Monthly Service and Usage Charges [incl. VAT]: R 91.22
2. Early Cancellation Charges [Incl. VAT] R 158.09
It is clear then from the above that "MTN cancels your subscriber contract". The payment as requested was made and therefore there is nothing due. I cannot see how this is not clear enough - if you wish to see your letter please advise.
