MTN cancellation nightmare

I have been struggling to cancel my MTN contract for the last three weeks. I requested an early termination quote. MTN sent me two different early termination quotes. I paid both with the hopes that it would speed up the process. I called MTN after 48 hours of paying the termination amount and they said the payment reflects on the system they will cancel the contract within 24 - 48 hours. I received an SMS stating that my query has been escalated. The next day I received an SMS stating that my query has been resolved but my contract still wasn't canceled. I phoned them again they said that they can see the query has been resolved but nothing was actually done and they would assist me in cancelling the contract and that it would be canceled by the end of the day. The contract still isn't cancelled so I called them again. All they can respond with is that my query will be escalated and that I should wait another 24 - 48 hours. MTN makes it nearly impossible to cancel a contract.
