MTN cancellation department email backlog causes my line to be suspended

I currently have two lines on my contract. The second line contract ended in October 2016, I emailed the cancellation/retention department in September 2016 to advise that I would not like the line to go on in contract but rather prepaid. I assumed this was done. I also requested that my debit order date be amended as I changed jobs in January and salary dates changed, this was never done and because I don't go and check each and every statement my account wasn't paid, eventually when I noticed - I paid the outstanding balance, I then requested that my debit order date be amended as it was not done the first time. Just to have the same situation happen. I then decided and made a point to pay in every month manually which takes alot of my time, but I didn't want to "add" more work to the consultants and didn't want to get angry when calling. Now they have suspended my line without notification because of an outstanding balance, when I tried calling out from the second line which was supposed to be "Prepaid" I realised it's also suspended which means I have been charged twice this whole time. Now I sit with a line that is suspended and it cannot be reconnected, I also cannot seem to sort the above out, No one can help me. This makes me very sad as I have been with MTN for years and I am now tired of this manner in which they deal with their clients. Call me, speak to me, cancel the contract, review my statement, reconnect my lines. That is all I am asking.
