MTN - canceling my data contract!

<div>MTN, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME! I have been trying to cancel my data contract and migrate it to pre-paid from the 12th November 2019. I was on a legacy data contract that went on to month to month in 2015 already. I was forced by MTN to migrate to a alternative contract at the end of October as MTN discontinued the legacy contract I was on. When they migrated me to the default data package they also changed my contract dates which is now not allowing me to cancel my contract. This was going to be rectified so that I can cancel without a penalty fee but I have been waiting 21 days for resolution. I have even spoken to the GM who promised to phone me back the next day but I am still to hear from him (4 working days later). The call centre manager in Retentions, Tiny is also not updating me with feedback or calling me back like promised. I will not pay for this contract at the end of December. I already received my invoice and statement showing the full amount for end of December......I will not be paying this. The resolution I want: Please fix the dates on my contract so that I can migrate to pre-paid on that data line without a cancellation penalty fee and do so before my next deduction at the end of December. You will need to pass credit on my account. The service in your call centre's are shocking. I have been sent from pillar to post and everybody is giving me the wrong information. Your agents does not even know how your billing works. I have been given the wrong information on several occasions and your staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. They don't apply logic and on average I have to do 2 to 3 security checks on each call as I am transfered from agent to agent and everyone does a security check. That equates to repeating the same information 18 times on one phone call. Once my other contracts reach their contract end date, I will be cancelling everything with MTN. Even your staff in your franchises are unhelpful, uninformed and rude. Sies MTN!&nbsp;</div>

Thank you for your post.

We sincere apologized for any inconvenienced caused to you.

We have tried to call you for assistance.

Cell number *** term date is not amended, this term date reflects 2019-08-25, it was only the package that was amended due to old package will be discontinued.

There will be no early termination fee.

On this contract you had a dual sim connected, now we cannot just cancel the primary number before the dual sim is cancelled.  We have logged a request with the billing department to cancel the dual sim number first before we can go ahead with the cancellation of the DATA contract.

Apology for the service received from agents, all departments will require for security questions due to the POPI Act.

The invoice for December month is not as yet finalized.

Once the dual sim details is cancelled we will go ahead with the cancellation of the contract and number converted to prepaid as per request.

Kind Regards,

Alice van der Merwe
MTN

Best regards,

Hello Alice,

Please phone me again as I was in a meeting when you called. You can call me at 16:00 please.
So you say I am a **** and that the dates was never changed. Do you want to discredit me on this public forum? If you check the history on that contract and read the comments you will know that it was incorrect and that they have probably fixed the dates. Or your call centre staff and managers don't know what is going on because they gave me that information. Nobody bothered to phone me to tell me and assist me with the migration to pre-paid yet.
Secondly, I have cancelled the dual-sim in October already and I was advised that it has been cancelled. So that was not done either!
Thirdly, I have received my November invoice and Statement that indicates the deductions for December for this number. You did not read my comments properly because I said December deduction not invoice. If the number was migrated to pre-paid on the 12th November like I asked I would not have received the new allocation of data on the 27th of November which I will pay for at the end of December. Hence, you need to credit my account and send me a updated invoice for November to show the correct amount that will be deducted in December.
Lastly, I understand the POPI act! I don't have a issue with the security questions, the problem is your processes that are flawed that causes customers to repeat themselves multiple times on one call because your agents are ***********. They transfer you to the wrong departments, they don't do warm transfers and transfer your information to the next agent, they don't even access your details but yet ask you security questions. I tell them that I want to cancel, they then ask me security questions just to tell me that they need to transfer me to retentions. They refuse to transfer you before you have answered all the questions even if they know they will not be accessing your information. I work in a call centre myself and know that you can do warm transfers and transfer the customers information (tell your colleague that the customer has already done a security check so they don't have to do one again) - It's called customer experience management!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, you don't have to do a security check if you are not accessing information and giving out account information.
Clearly, you wrote your response from a very defensive perspective and do not REALLY understand my frustration. Just like the GM who also had excuses that he is still new and Tiny is managing two teams. Not sure what that has to do with the service I received and are still receiving.
