MTN Cancel contract headache.

Tried to cancel a cell phone contract. Went to an MTN store and was told to call the MTN call centre number to cancel. Had to phone MTN multiple times. Eventually got hold of someone who took all my details but did not confirm if the contract was cancelled. Tried calling again and had to try numerous times before I spoke to an agent who informed that all the details have been captured and that somebody will call me to finalise the cancellation. Almost 2 weeks now and still no call. Would be great if they could let me know if my contract has been cancelled.
