MTN bullies elderly (women) into contracts

MTN and their 3rd party contractors bully the elderly.

My Mother of 73 years of age was bul**** into doing a cell phone upgrade in November 2023 by this company that claimed that they are part of MTN contracts department.

She was on a month to month contract which worked very well for her. The person that called her stated that her contract will expire and she needed to upgrade and when she stated that they should call me so that I can assess the deal she was informed that the contract and deal will expire when they put the phone down.

This is a VERY SERIOUS offence to the elderly!

I have been trying to phone this company and their phones do not even ring. *** *** ***

Phoning the MTN helpline 135 is no help at all because they can’t do anything as is was taken out from a “3rd party”. One would think that mothership MTN has overriding authority but it seems that these “3rd party” companies are running MTN, and more likely into the ground. I am now on day 19 waiting for the complaints department to get back to me. There is not even a noreply email coming back. We really need another mobile network provider that can kick these bullies in the teeth.

This sounds like a ***** scheme and I cannot believe that MTN will put their reputation on the line for ********s like this that they have a contract with. What is my next step? Do I need to open a case of Women / elderly abuse? Do I need to seek legal advice?
