MTN BOULDERS MIDRAND *****ING FROM CUSTOMERS - ****MING

I went to the MTN store at Boulders Midrand on 27 Aug 2025 to get a SIM SWAP and the lady there told me that: 1. I need to go and buy a SIM card at the PEP Cell (I assumed they ran out of SIM Cards - which is a story for another day) 2. The cost of the SIM SWAP is R50

I was surprised because I've never had to pay for a SIM SWAP. They also said that their card machine was not working and I would have to pay this R50 cash. Because I was desperate, I was willing to comply. I went to the PEP store but couldn't get help because my wallet and phone were taken and I could only tap using my alternative phone and you cannot make a store cash withdrawal without a bank card. I then drove to MTN Mall of Africa where I was told that the SIM SWAP is free of charge and I only need to purchase a SIM Card for R4.

Clearly the lady at MTN Boulders wanted to pocket the R50 - hence lying saying that their speedpoint is out of order (forcing me to pay R50 cash) and that I must purchase the SIM card at PEP (so that they don't have to give me an invoice for anything). I wonder how many customers have been deceived there. This am absolutely disappointed at this behaviour. I would never expect to be ****med at MTN.
