MTN Black Friday deal hoax
I took a Black Friday deal with MTN in 2016, upgrading it in 2018 and once again upgrading it in 2020. The upgrade was to be 100 GB of data for R299 as opposed to the existing deal of 60 GB of data for the same amount. I called MTN 3 times to find out the status in which a consultant told me my contract was approved and an agent would get a hold of me to discuss delivery of the modem. On the 29th of December 2020 R1000 extra was debited from account. When I called customer care, an agent informed me that MTN is having this issue with a lot of clients and the R1000 will be refunded, ref no ***. I called again yesterday in which the story had now changed stating that the upgrade was not yet activated and hence the R1000 was for a month to month contract of my old Black Friday deal. I asked to cancel and was waiting 2 hours on the line with no help. I’m currently waiting 1.5 hours on the same line to have this contract cancelled. This is absolutely disgusting service from MTN. After being a customer for over 10 years, you can bet after this ordeal I will never support MTN ever again.
