MTN BILL SHOCK - OUTRAGEOUS PACKET SWITCHED DATA TRANSACTIONS!!!

After having a cell phone account (2GB DATA package) with MTN since 2005 and having a current monthly bill of R149.00 (R154.95 after the August increase) every single month, my account was suddenly suspended last week without notice because apparently I had exceeded my credit limit of R2024.00.

A few days later an amount of R1428.64 was deducted from my bank account. When I phoned the call center to enquire I was told that the R1428.64 was for my October Bill and that my November Bill was standing at R4918.55.

I was surprised to find out that the amount was all due to out of bundle packet switched data calls from my sim which was only used in my iPad. I only use the iPad on Saturdays and Sundays and sometimes on week nights; I don’t even take the iPad to work with me. The usage on the iPad has been the same ever since I took out the contract and likewise with the Bill, UNTIL I received this shocker for October and November.

When confronting MTN at the call center I wanted to know how a Bill with a credit limit of R2024.00 can possibly be R4918.55, a credit limit that I did not even approve or ever would have approved to start with. Why did nobody inform or me of the mysterious usage, MTN could clearly see that this was not my data usage or account pattern as I NEVER exceeded my data usage before.

When speaking to consultants to give me the information about the Data usage they informed me that the data usage and Bill is what it is and they will send me my Itemized Bill and that is all they can tell me, which up until now I haven’t received. When calling again and again they tell me that they cannot see the enquiry’s on their side. I’ve even given them a reference number. I’ve asked consultants several times to give me information and details on usage or to log the call to somebody who can assist me, and they just tell me this is my Bill because of my package switch data.

This is not acceptable; MTN cannot charge me for something I did not use. I can see that im not the only MTN customer who is caught in this MISTERIOUS DATA usage conspiracy. How many people do they catch with this and get away with it. I want answers.
