MTN bill shock

I checked my MTN account online and discovered that I was owing 9130.05rands. I couldn’t understand how I could have come to owe such an amount especially after cancelling my *** account. I called the call centre and was told that a blank invoice had been created which had that amount. The call centre agent promised to escalate the query and she gave me this reference number ***. Now my question is why does MTN seem not to get things right especially when it comes to my accounts? What would happen if I was an illiterate person? It can’t be the way of doing business that one has to call the call centre and complain on hellopeter just for MTN to get things right. I have been with other networks and i can testify that this mess is unique to MTN. I am even contemplating cancelling the remaining data contract and sign up for a similar one with telkom because at least telkom knows what it is doing when it comes to billing. I even had to change my method of payment to cash so that I do not have to have my account debited with exorbitant just because someone at MTN does not know what they are doing. As far as I know, I have one contract with MTN *** where I pay 299rands a month. MTN should just fix its problems and stop making a part of its problems.

Not only is MTN incorrectly saying I owe 9130.05, but it says the amount in question is 30 days in arreas. Has MTN incompetence reached this level? Now my credit bureu records are supposed to be ruined because I was foolish enough to apply for a contract with MTN? I have always paid my account on time. This is sicknening to say the least. I will be submitting my contract cancellation with them soon to cancel my last remaining contract with them. I cannot be subjected to torture because someone at MTN doesnt know their job.

To anyone thinking of opening a contract with MTN, please reconsider your decision. I am in trouble for having opted for MTN when I could have gotten better deals from other networks namely vodacom and telkom. Now I am seating with a 9130.05rand bill from nowhere when I settled and closed their contract and paid settlement amounts according to their own settlement qoute. Which networks treats its customers like this other than MTN. To add salt to injury, I still have not recieved any response from them. The loose here is myself with a negative credit record...brought to you by MTN!

Day 3 and my problem still not resolved. Will now reverese their installment to get their intention. I have learnt that if you want to be noticed, stop paying your bills and they will call you. If only I had signed up with vodacom with the same package 299 for 80gig. Vodacom deal is even better because you get 50gig during the day and 30gig at night whereas MTN its only 40gig during the day and 40 at night. No more MTN for me, a network thay will take you to hell and back.

Day 4, problem still not resolved. MTN appears to have taken a decision not to respond to hellopeter complaints. Most complaints here have not been responded to.One more reason for dumping MTN. Why sign up for a network that will not respond to your concerns? Yesterday I signed up with vodacom for a 120gig data contract for 399 per month. Will cancel this MTN contract once the dispute is settled, even if it means going to court. I have evidence of payments made so it's their billing department that is a mess not me.

The rectification should see the whole amount of 9130.05 being reversed and not the R4185.05 as contained in your sms withref SR# ***. How did you arrive at R4185.05 when that is not the amount in dispute. What happens to the balance? As MTN you seem never get anything right as I can see. I paid settlement amount which was in excess of 10thoudand as per the quote of your rententions department. So common sense should dictate that I don't owe anything. But now as per the sms i received I will still be owing more than 5000rands and the question is for what?
