MTN bars my line monthly for their stupidity.
In December 2020, I finally was able to upgrade my handset and package with MTN after they caused many issues with the ending of the black friday specials and barring of my line - Not my fault.
In the same month, I received a call from Sydney for the MTN insurance on my handset. We discussed the addition of my new handset and the removal of my old handset.
Clearly it will make sense to remove a handset that is now laying in the draw of my bedside table and has not been turned on since I transferred all of my data.
In the conversation I clearly state: "yes, remove the old handset please".
Fast forward to the end of January 2021 and I note that my monthly bill is higher than expected, but I pay it because I didnt have time to scrutinize the itemized amounts.
In February, I note that again the bill is high, however this time I look through the statement and see that I am still being charged for the old handset. It was never removed.
I go to Somerset West mall and speak to Lee, the consultant. Between us we work out what the difference is, I make the payment less the overcharge and notice is given to MTN. I am contacted by the MTN insurance department, they advise that there has been an overcharge and my account will be credited.
MTN then a few weeks later in February bar my line. I end up back at the Somerset West mall store. They arrange to unbar my line. Lee and I speak to the MTN insurance department, again. This time they state that they need PROOF of the over charge.
Lee graciously sends this to them. A few days later they agree that there was an overcharge and they will refund my account.
March - I pay the bill for this month less the overcharged amount for the incorrect billing on the insurance. MTN bar my line again. Roanne from the complaints department assists in opening my line again. Again the MTN insurance department state that they acknowledge the over charge and will credit my account.
April, my line is barred again. And so it goes on.
My next step is the ombudsman. I am tired of playing with MTN. I really need to change service providers.
