MTN Bad Business
So disappointed in MTN... We took up a new data contract with them on Sunday and on Monday the router stopped working. I took it back to the store on Tuesday and while there I decided to take a better date package instead of the one I had just taken. BUT I was told that I cannot change the package because the router we first got is portable and the new package router isn't. That was reasonable so I asked if I could cancel the one I took and take this new one. And I was told in order to cancel this contract that was only 2 days old, I would need to pay over R1000... When I asked what this amount was for, I was told it was for the router, any data used and connection fees. But I'm in your store where you're about to give me a brand new router. Why don't you just keep that and I'll gladly pay for the less than 500 mb of data I used in the space of a few hours since I got the router and it stopped working... I tried contacting higher authorities and one person said I'm more than able to return the router as it's within 7 days. And another person said no. I need to pay all charges. So the people that work within the company don't even know their own policies. But the most frustrating part of this whole situation is that I wanted to take a more expensive contract than the one I already took. So basically MTN is throwing their own revenue away and in the procees reminding me why I stopped being their customer some 12 years ago. Sad to see that nothing's improved much within this company...
