MTN - Bad attitude
I'm convinced MTN have a rotten leadership culture and have not learnt from their close to 4 billion US Dollar fine. I've been trying to port my number to FNB Connect yet MTN have tried every conniving angle to thwart my attempts. First they send me an email acknowledging receipt of my request to move my contract to prepaid which is required to port to another service provider. Then they call me to ask why I'm moving to prepaid and was confronted by an aggressive, surly call centre agent trying her best to bully me into staying with MTN.Still I thought by now my number was on prepaid.Today FNB told me MTN blocked my porting attempts.I then go into the MTN center to find it is still on contract. The agent there also being pushy and asking why I'm moving and he wasn't the friendliest. He then showed me they've finally moved it to Prepaid. Yet again FNB were unable to port my number which required hectic escalation to MTN (mis)management. Bottom line is this feels like serious anti-competitive behavior worthy of a call to the Competition Commission. Let's see what threatening call will come from MTN now. Perhaps another fine in this space will get them to improve their market conduct
