MTN - atrocious service

Good day

This is regarding the atrocious service provided by MTN in Lichtenburg and all its counterparts regarding the rectifying of my contract.

When I upgraded on 31st of December 2015, I asked to stay on My Choice 200 and was mistakenly placed on My Choice 100 by Simone which handled my contract in-store. Within a few days I noticed that my minutes expired. I went back to MTN and Thabo told me I had to wait for three months to migrate to the correct package. After the said three months I went back to Thabo and Simone to enquire about my incorrect package. I asked to be placed back on My Choice 200. I wrote a letter and Thabo, again mistakenly, changed it to a Top-up package. I lost 625MB of data with the wrong package and also have been paying the amount of the correct contract but receiving the wrong amount of Minutes, Data and SMS’s.

I was told to then e-mail the Area Manager that was/is Marlize Hibbert. I sent an e-mail to Marlize Hibbert, but no response was received within days of waiting. A week later I e-mailed her again and she only said she didn’t receive the first one. Absolutely no help was received from the said Area Manager. I contacted Mr Maartens Hattingh who I was told is from “e-hub” cell network and will be able to assist me in rectifying my contract. When contacting Mr. Hattingh, he promised to assist and send the necessary forms for the rectification of my contract. No forms where received and also no further response.

In the meanwhile Simone has been transferred to Potchefstroom and Thabo has been transferred to Sandton. Thabo asked me to go to the Lichtenburg MTN branch on contacting him, and referred me to Mpho to sign the necessary forms. For three consecutive days I went to the Lichtenburg branch, and Mpho (Store Manager) is just never in at all.

Thabo, again, e-mailed me forms to complete when speaking to him again, thus I don’t agree on completing the forms because the heading is incorrect also with the rest of the content. The contract states that it will migrate me from a prepaid service to a fixed term contract even though I am currently, although the wrong contract, still on a fixed term contract. In its entirety I refuse to sign this form because its intention and purpose is wrongly set out.

Legal action is strongly considered and will be handled in the week, as there was error in the conclusion of the contract and no proper customer service was provided within the last 6 months of struggling with this situation.

Thank you for nothing MTN.

Johan Laas
