So yesterday I received a call from a guy named Jason claiming to work for MTN stating that someone had ordered a sim swap for my number. He asked me to confirm if I requested this or not.
I confirmed it was not - and he was like he will cancel this immediately. He then said he would send me a One time pin which he confirmed for me over the phone. he then sent me another one which i confirmed for me.
After I got off the call I realised it was a **** when i noticed that this guy had increased my limit R1116 on my account and transferred R200 of that to his account.
I went to an MTN store where they decreased the limit again and said I would need to call head office to have the amount removed from my account, so I did not have to pay it.
When I called the head office today, Yvonne told me she can't do anything for me, I have to pay it. All she told me was because I authorised it, I need to pay it.
Seriously? People are ****med every day yet this is the way MTN is dealing with it? This is seriously unacceptable.
The number I received the call from was ***
The number that the airtime was transferred to was ***.
