MTN are ripping people off
I noticed an increase in the amount debited from my bank account by MTN yesterday , I then contacted them to enquire why they debited more than my fixed contract amount. To my shocking surprise, I was informed that they debited the additional fee because my 24 month contract had expired the previous month. Surely by law you cant do this...Nobody contacted to inform me of this, nor did I receive any kind of notice as was the case in previous years. I believe that MTN is ripping people off. When I insisted on them refunding my money, I was told to go and look at my contract. I don't even have a signed contract, as this last upgrade was done over the phone. They know very well that people are not that inclined to institute legal action over a small amount like R60, so they get away with it. I however will be taking this further with the national credit regulator. After more than 15 years of being a client, I am extremely upset about this, and intend cancelling all my accounts with the service provider. Just think how much millions they are making by taking a small amount from 1000s of people like me.
