MTN are not interested in protecting their users against *****

There was a ***** attempt on my account today. Someone, supposedly from MTN, called and stated that a sim swop was in process. They wanted me to confirm the OTP sent to my phone. They even quoted the number and asked me to confirm it. I told them I dont trust calls from call centers as i had no way to authenticate what they were saying so I closed the call and called the directions from MTN to report *****. (Hint: it the same as their normal call center number = 083 135). Then you have to wade through all the options because there is no direct option to report ***** or attempted *****. Then you get misdirected into option 1 "assistance with your account and balances" because there is no assistance with "your account", only a drawn out sharing of information that you already have on the app and not other option for "assistance on your account". Then you have to wade through the other options to find the well hidden option to speak to a live person. Also frustrating. After a battle to authenticate yourself and to hear that there is no record of a ongoing sim swop there is no further interest in receiving the cellphone number from which the sms or call came. You can go to the police if you want to make a case and send them the avadavat. Then they'll look at it. No attempt to be pro-active. No interest in preventing future attempts from these numbers. No interest what so-ever. Your problem. Not MTN's. I have read the other complaints on Hellopeter around similar issues. Notably MTN does not respond to those complaints. I am not expecting a response on this either. Oh, by the way, "MTN South Africa" hasn't been claimed as a business on Hellopeter. They aren't even reading the complaints. They really don't care what their clients' experiences and frustrations are. It seems MTN just couldn't be bothered. They must be doing well enough.
