MTN are ******

So I made an online application last Tuesday of Dec. by Thursday I had a sales agent call me with regards to my application. I wanted the iPhone 11 Pro. The sales agent told me I was going to be billed R1319. That’s R1200 for the device and R119 for the package cause I had chosen the R99 package but asked that it’ll be a top up so it went up to R119. I kept asking the agent to repeat the amount I was going to charged and he confirmed R1319.

Received my billing last week with an amount owing of R1750.42. Called the customer line and was transferred to Mondo Sales. The guy confirmed that my contract says I’ll be paying R1750. I asked him to listen to the call recording of the sales cause that’s no what we agreed on. Was told I was gonna get feedback in the next 48 working hours and that was last week Tuesday.

Called again today to get feedback and was told that the recording do confirm that we agreed on R1319 but contract states a different amount. Funny thing is, I never received a written contract so I have no clue who agreed on that.

I’ve been devoted the R1750,42 which is not part of my agreement. As far as I understand, the only binding contract is the verbal one.

I also contacted MTN on Twitter but they weren’t much of assistance. They been sending me from pillar to post.

Only on the 6th of February I received an sms from MTN saying my matter has been escalated but no one has contacted me to update me. Not sure why it has taken more than three months to investigate such a simple matter. In the meantime I’m being devoted every month. I want my money back or else I’m taking this to the telecommunications ombudsman
