MTN and the way they charge and calculate for data
The story:
I received my Samsung Galaxy S5 back from ADH repair on 25 September 2015. I did the basic config and logged onto the USSD MTN Loyalty portal and purchased a R40 24 hour bundle. I received an SMS from MTN telling me to dial *141*6# to activate the service, which I promptly did and received an message to tell me the service is activated. For some reason, these messages are not on my phone when I look for them.
Soon thereafter, I received the SMS from MTN telling me I have reached the stupid low 150Mb limit and I will be throttled. (THat is a different soapbox rant for another day!). I have this SMS. I continued to download my apps etc until on my watch the 24 hours were depleted.
I bought another 24 hour bundle for 1700 MTN points on 30 September 2015 and went through the schlep of activating the service again. Again I received an activated notice and I started downloading my SimFy music database. Again, I cannot find the activated message anywhere on my phone but I do have the 150Mb limit SMS.
Come end October, I got slapped with an incredible data usage bill (I also depleted my Afrihost mobile 2Gb).
Upon.. (I am unable to post the full gripe here, [URL Removed]
