MTN and Mondo Complaint
#WIN
I want to share my current and ongoing complaint with MTN.
I took a data only sim contract through one of their external partners called Mondo.
After the sim card was delivered it didn't work and when I called MTN to find out what the problem might be with the sim card. They told me that it has not yet been registered and I was put through to the registration department for assistance. The consultant I spoke to informed me that the sim card is rica pending. She asked if I handed in my fica documents upon receipt of the sim card, I informed her that I handed everything that might be of need such as a copy of my ID and a bank statement as proof of residency. She then advised me to call after 24hours if the problem still persist. It was understandable for at least the first day or two for this to be the issue, but even after the two days I was still faced with the same issue. I then started making constant calls to MTN for two consecutive weeks and without any luck of getting the problem sorted. They put me through from person department to another. I was transferred to the rica department and from there to registrations. Rica would say the sim card was not registered and registration would say the sim card was not rica'd. After two weeks if frustration and MTN's failure to assist. I then cancelled the contact. I was advised that I will not be charged any cancellation fee of which to my surprise I received statements for MTN claiming that I owe then R1200. This is even shocking cause the contract I took was R199 per month. They even threatened that they are going to list me on credit bureau if I don't make that payment.
I informed then that I will not pay that .money because i never even used the sim card and I kept calling then everyday for help and they failed to assist me. I never even used a single mega bite of that sim card since it never worked.
When I turned to their external partner Mondo to interneve, they refer me to MTN of calling MTN and telling them to refrain from making attempts to debit my account.
I am now not putting any money on my other account because MTN keeps making attempts to debit this account and they are creating unnecessary charges for me.
This is problem is still ongoing as MTN would just ignore the emails I send them and again most of their consultants are very rude... only 1/50 chances for one to get a person who is really looking forward to help.
I have now proceeded and reported the complaint to the Consumer Protection Commission for future assistance and pending feedback.
If there is anyone else who had been faced with the same situation, please share how you came right as this is very frustration and MTN and Mondo seems not to care.
Regards
