MTN allows vrjuice to subscribe me to a service without asking or consenting to be subscribed.

I received a message from MTN stating that I had subscribed to a vrjuice service at R5/day. I initially ignored the message until i received another message reminding me of my subscription on Mon 5 November 2018.

I tried to unsubscribe on the MTN website, but did not get any results for vrjuice.

Searching for more information about vrjuice, it became apparent that only MTN customers complained that they were subscribed to this service without their consent: https://www.hellopeter.com/mtn/reviews/what-is-vrjuice- ********** https://www.hellopeter.com/mtn/reviews/mtn-****-vrjuice-sms- ********** https://www.hellopeter.com/mtn/reviews/mtn-vrjuice-****- ********** https://www.hellopeter.com/mtn/reviews/mtn-is-running-a-subscription-****-and-they-enjoy-taking-our-airtime-for-free- **********

In 2016 the Wireless Application Service Providers’ Association (WASPA) described a new cellphone **** where South African mobile users were secretly subscribed to services. WASPA identified the case of auto-subscription – where a consumer is subscribed to a service without asking or consenting to be subscribed. It seems that this loophole to secretly subscribe MTN customers is still available to the providers of these "services". (https://mybroadband.co.za/news/cellular/172005-new-south-african-cellphone-****-secretly-subscribes-you-to-a-r5-a-day-service.html)

I did not subscribe to any services but I'm billed R5/day. I called the MTN call centre and they insisted that I subscribed. They referred my to vrjuice and WASPA. They offered my the contact details of WASPA. Not surprisingly MTN also refused to reimburse me, "because the system".
