MTN allowing ******* port requests

MTN has somwhow allowed a port request on my phone number - do they even check the documents they are provided with? I see I'm not the only one having this issue with MTN. Can I find out which branch allowed this to happen and if it is a common occurrence there?

Update:

It was relatively painless to reverse except for needing to get a new sim card with previous provider.

Just a thought, could you not a use one time pin when porting a number (and with other things). So when someone tries to port a number the one time pin is sent to that number and needs to be filled in on the system as authorisation?
Seems like that extra layer of security would stop a lot of these issues.
