MTN allowed my number to be hacked

MTN has completely failed to protect me as a customer. Someone hacked my number and performed a SIM swap without my consent or proper verification. When I tried to reverse it with a legitimate SIM swap, it was declined. I immediately called MTN to suspend the number, and instead of urgent action, I was told to wait 24 hours because the supervisor “was off.”

This is unacceptable! How does a company allow SIM swap ***** and then drag its feet when the real account holder is desperately trying to secure their number? The runaround, incompetence, and lack of urgency from MTN is shocking.

I demand answers and accountability. MTN must explain how this ***** happened on their watch and what they’re doing to fix it. I’m already considering escalating this to ICASA and taking legal steps if this is not resolved immediately.
