MTN agents do not know how to dial MTN from a non-MTN phone

Such terrible service, my moms phone got ****** and we would like to block the sim card so ***** may not use her service. Everytime you Google how to get hold of KTN it tells you to call 135. She tries from Telekom line and my dad’s vodacom number and can’t get through to MTN. So I phone on her behalf I have an MTN phone. My questions and the answers give were:

1. Q: Can you block the SIM card now so ***** cannot use. A: no we can’t only if we do a sim swop but she must have a phone to swop the sim in or it won’t work. We can block phone but we need IMEI numbers etc (which I don’t have in hand. ) okay so no joy there.

2. Q: How does my mom contact you from a non-MTN phone so she can give you IMEI numbers to block phone if she doesn’t have an MTN phone. A: she must phone 135. My answer - it does not work from Telekom what is your number to dial team MTN sim if you don’t have an MTN phone. Answer phone 135. Explain again phone ****** no MTN phone she has access to a vodacom number and a Telekom line, how can she get hold of someone to help from a non-MTN telephone. Answered again 135. I say this doesn’t work, do you have an 011 number or an 0860 number that she can call. No she must phone from an MRN phone and she must dial 135. 20 Minutes if this back and forth with me trying to find creative ways to explain how she does not have an Krn phone and still getting the same phone number 135 ( oh once the told me 173, also doesn’t work)

WTAF! The number after some serious googling etc is 083 135. How difficult it must be to remember working fir MTN. Shame on me for not trying harder to Google before trying to speak to customer care agent who obviously doesn’t understand a basic concept that some people may want to phone MTN from a non-MTN number.

Yes I lost my cool and swore ( my bad for expecting them to be able to help me and getting frustrated, I will put in extra work to be nicer in future but I can’t gautentee that) but for Pete’s sake why could she just not tell me to DIAL 083 135!!!!!!!!!

MTN you really need to work on your agent training and why can’t you place temporary “block” a simcard due to theft?
