MTN advertise package and activate wrong one

Mtn had an advert on there website that read Mtn MyChoice anytime 200 with 200 minutes, 500MB and 300 SMSs. I asked my son to do online application for me and he was given reference ***3, automated email response on a Sunday, February 7, 2016. Because of the disclaimers made on the email regarding the online application, I called in Monday, February 8, 2016 while the adverti*****t was still alive online and made the application telephonically, it was approved and parcel delivered within 3 days. When activated, it was activated as Mtn Anytime 200 with R200 airtime value and not what I had app**** for. Calling Mtn thereafter to correct has been a nightmare as I get transferred from one person to the other, kept holding for lengthy periods and get promises to call back that are never honored. I have been given a few reference numbers and when calling back keep getting conflicting explanations. To date the issue is not resolved, nearly a month later but I have been billed and my account debited. Sunil the supervisor is outright rude as well. I also made an online complaint on the Mtn website, got an automated response with a promise to give feedback, but never got any feedback.

Hello kenpona,

Thank you for your post.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with our service.

As per our Marketing department the package you have app**** for was only valid for the weekend and you have app**** only on Monday for this package and this is the reason why you have not qualified for the package.

You are welcome to contact the MTN Direct department on *** for further assistance.

Kind Regards,

Alice van der Merwe
