MTN abuses and ****s the elderly!!!!
Mtn has put my elderly mom in law through hell!!!! After losing the roof over her head and everything else she owned in this world she came to live with us. Trying to sort out her finances I realized she had 3 MTN contracts the debit order was taking 3/4s of her Sassa pension (She's over 70). One of these contracts were added when she tried to upgrade her current contract. They added a new contract instead of upgrading. (Before she came to live with us). We have to assist on speaker phone as her hearing is not great have witnessed every single call and MTN shop visit. Last year May 2023 one contract expired we followed the full process thru cancelations was told it's canceled reference no ect. June and July they still deducted the amount. Several calls reference numbers, and 3 visits to the MTN shop later was told it's a 2 month notice period but now it's canceled. August they said only 2 contracts left but the amount came down with only a R100.... They stopped Emailing statements. This year on 11 April another contract expired, again followed the process thru cancelations, said canceled end April. 15 calls and reference no's later May to Oct still not canceled due to an "error" on the account. From Oct to untill yesterday 2/11 it's been escalated 6 times a supervisor/manager would have called back before 5 the same day. Did not happen. Have sent 6 emails to complaints ***** and ombudsman department. Received an Email from MTN management saying yes you have 2 active numbers - after explaining it should only be 1 from April /May came back saying yes you're right second one canceled we not charging. Took her to the MTN shop yesterday asked for a statement, they are billing for 3 contracts!!!!! R123 for a contract canceled 18 months ago, And R123 for the contract cancelled 6 months ago. She was **** to on all 35 calls with reference numbers, MTN **** on Email several times. We have given up, there is no resolution no hope of resolving this in anyway. We don't have the means to take them to court and I know this review won't resolve anything but maybe it will help warn others of the abuse to the elderly by MTN.
