MTN 5G Home Internet
If there was a negative rating, I would gladly give MTN 5G Home Internet that exact rating. I previously had an MTN 4G LTE router and month to month package since August 2023 which I had no issues with. In May 2024 there was a change in the 4G package (Line speed and allocations decreased) so I was forced to "upgrade" to the 5G option, which was taken up on 17 June 2024. Since the take up of the 5G product, there has not been a day where I have had a stable connection. Every night from 21h00 until 08h30 the next morning I do not have ANY network. To date I have made 17 calls since the take up of the product to the MTN Coverage Department, who are apparently supposed to assist with any coverage issues. This is unfortunately not the case, as the system that they use to check the coverage is always down. I have been met with different reasons as to why there is no network: 1. It was due to having both the 4G and 5G routers on at the same time (An MTN employee from Fourways Mall assisted with the take up of the 5G product and said that I can use both as the same time). 2. I was told that my location changed, how and why I do not know when I had provided my location in store when I took up my 4G router and 5G router. It is to be noted that I have not changed my location. 3. The network is down (I logged a ticket on this 20th July 2024 and to date there has been no resolution) 4. The tower is down (I logged a ticket for this as well on this 20th July 2024 and to date there has been no resolution) 5. The “new” router has issues 6. I was told to reach out to the complaints department, however they say that I need to contact the Coverage department. I am quite disgusted at the lack of customer service and assistance, being an MTN customer for the last 15 years. I really don’t know what to do apart from cancelling this abysmal service and moving to a competitor. I am just making those aware of the ********** service and experience that I have had, and hopefully it improves in the future so that someone else does not have these experiences, because I certainly will not be waiting for things to “hopefully improve” as they so subtly put it.
