MTN
Hi my name is Pat Andersson. I am 75 yes old. A South African living in Mozambique. I have been a customer of MTN (formerly Autopage) since 1989. My story is quite involved and long. I will try and keep in as short as possible. I have been in Mozambique since Febrile 2020 (carona virus lockdown) until mid September whe I was admitted to the local hospital for an infection in my big toe and had to have my toenail removed. However this did not go that well as they suspected that I had gangarene. Thank goodness this was not the case. At the end of February I contacted MTN requesting them to change my cintract to PREPAID. from February to date I have literally begged them to no avail. In June I received an email advising me that I had to pay my final account of R220 otherwise they would suspend my account. Now I have received a notice from them advising me that i must pay R1884.00 on my account which has been handed over to their attirneys. If I do not pay they will keep adding monthly charges despite the fact that I no longer used my number which I removed from my phone. I received this message from one of their employees via facebook messenger. Nothing from MTN retentions or their k attorneys. Is it worth my while pursuing this and just pay them. I look forward to your advice. Sorry forgot. According to retentions and customer care I had to personally go into an MTN store to cancel (change) my contract because it could not be done via email. However, now I must pay R1884 and once I have paid I must contact MTN via email requesting them to cancel my contract. Something they were apparently unable yo do until now.
My MTN number, which I have since 1989, is ***. My new account number is BA*** (my old acc number was C***).. i have always paid in advance. Now because I am struggling financially, they are treating me with no respect whatsoever.
This is the message I received from one of their employees who answer their facebook messenger site. Hi Pat,
Please note as per the feedback received from the retentions team your account is handed over to legal, you are required to pay the outstanding amount (R1884.07) in order for your account to be cancelled as it will continue to incur charges. You can only log the late cancellation request once the account has been cancelled.
