MTM takes advantage of old people

My mother, aged 85 had her phone ****** and why she went to MTN only she knows. She told the consultant she needs a phone that she can work easily. The consultant chose a contract of over R300 per month and kept insisting the phone was new and my mom was to take it. My mom did not actually need a contract as I pay for one for her at CellC and have for many years. Now my question is, who gives an 85yr old a phone contract??? How was the application approved at that age??? My mother stresses every month because she cannot afford it. She doesn't even know if it's 24 or 36months!!!! She says the consultant was so pushy and she signed. The phone takes 2 SIM cards. The best part is that MTN actually blocked her phone and when she queried it she was told it's because she's not using the SIM card!!! Seriously????? The contract is paid every month, EHICH SHE DOES NOT NEED, yet she's forced to use MTN when I also pay her CellC which she now DOES NOT use!!! Surely she can use what she likes as long as it's paid???? So my mom was coerced into this contract she does not need and I'm paying a contract as well. This was also not explained to her seeing as the phone takes 2 Sims. This in my eyes is reckless lending. At 85 she wasnt thinking properly because of the pushy consultant as and now she's stuck in a contract. What happens if she passes away??? What if it's a 36mth contract?? She cannot afford it and is battling to pay it with money she could use for food. Why was she not offered just a phone or a very cheap contract to get the phone??? Why she went ahead to MTN without my knowledge only she knows because I would'nt have allowed it. She's had endless trouble and has had to go into MTN numerous times. So MTN, is this how you work, approving contracts for anyone and any age and pushing old people into signing so you can make commission off them, then block their phone because they're not using your son card. I had to do a sim swap with CellC cause suddenly that SIM was damaged yet it hasn't been used for ages. She says everytime she takes a SIM card out there's problems and then she has to go in to MTM to sort it out, so that's how much petrol this damn contract has cost her as well. I'm not at all impressed with MTM. Please clarify why she was given such an expensive contract at her age which she can't afford and if it's 24 or 36 mths. Also can MTM dictate to her which service provider she's only allowed to use??? ***
