MoMo = More and More (Spam)
I have tried numerous times to unsubscribe/opt out of the MoMo SMSes: emailed *** three times, tried using the MTN app's Manage Consent feature (this doesn't work at all BTW) and exhausted the USSD options.
What really irks me, is that the MoMo SMS has the text "Opt out" in it with no clear indication of how to do so (*135# does not provide this functionality). Was this a half-hearted attempt at making the message appear to honour the DMASA regulations?
After reaching out to the MTN SA Service Twitter channel, I received this feedback: "Please note that this is been address from the senior level. We are currently fixing the opt out option for all the MoMo SMSs."
Apparently there is no manual procedure is place for customer care to opt out on behalf of a customer - at least none that the agent assisting me was willing or able to access.
Come on MTN SA, was the assumption really that all MTN customers would jump out of bed every morning and eagerly await their daily MTN MoMo spam?
