Misleading MTN telephonic consultants

My 24 month MTN contract was due for upgrade early last year (2017); I spoke to an MTN consultant in February 2017; and clearly indicated that I wanted to be on a month to month contract as the handset was still in good condition. I was then offered a R39 contract (no handset). A week later a contract was couriered to me for signing. After reading the contract I noticed that it was a 24 month contract and did not sign. The consultant over the phone was misleading. I visited the MTN store at the Liberty Midlands Mall and informed a consultant accordingly. This matter was then escalated and after a subsequent visit to the store I was advised that the matter was sorted out. I now want to upgrade (July 2018); only to be told that I cannot because of the 24 month contract.

I called MTN call centre many times spoke to various consultants (Albert; Portia; Sipho); whilst they acknowledge what is going on; there is no clear way forward. Portia from the retentions dept ; informed me that she can upgrade immediately but I MUST sign up with the retentions dept. But they don't have stock of the phone I want

This is unacceptable. I had 3 contracts with MTN and now its down to 2. I strongly feel zero would be the ideal number!!!!!
