mislead by consultant
Hi

I have been on a contract with MTN from 2011.
Last year I was due for an upgrade so a consultant called to notify me that I can upgrade but I did not need a new phone then,.
the consultant then suggested that I upgrade my contract and I would get 200 rands airtime for 199 rand per month, I specifically asked her what will happen if I needed a new phone after the upgrade she told me that they would add a handset to my contract and calculate how much I am gonna have to pay per month.
Saturday U went to Cresta to get a new phone I was told that I will have to take another contract which will come with a new phone and a SIM card.
I don't need a second SIM card as I already have an existing MTN contract SIM card.
I just need a new phone.
Had I known(or been told) that I would have to take a new contract all together I would have never upgraded, I would have cancelled the contract.
I sent an email to custumer service but they cannot assist me.
is the response I got from Shaunique Jordaan from custumer services.
\Kindly be advised that you can upgrade and keep your number by doing a sim swap that way you get a new phone with the same number. \""
