You receive a automated call asking if you would like to subscribe to their Mibb 30PM service, which costs R30 per month or the lesser amount. (Whatever the lesser amount is they don't say.) The automated voice says that if you want to opt out and not receive future call from their service to press 2 on your mobile phone. After pressing 2 to opt out and the call ends.
Lo and behold; a second later you receive a text message thanking you for subscribing to their service and to check with MTN with regards to their T&C's. This even though, you have specifically requested not to be subscribed to the service.
This is one of the most dishonest and blatant attempts to ***** cellphone airtime that I have yet to see. And I've worked for one of the larger telecommunication networks for years.
Thank goodness I know how to stop these services. But the ****** cheek. This ridicules attempts to ***** consumers airtime was meant to be stopped by the CPA. Obviously, they don't believe that their fall under such laws.
