MARKETING MISINFORMATION
On Friday 31 January I bought a new MTN SIM card. The special offer was that you get a FREE 2-day 10.5GB Anytime data + 1.5MB YouTube once every 30days for 2 months when you recharge for R50 or more. I recharged with R60 which means I would accredited with the data bundles mentioned. On top of that I received R60 free airtime which I think I was going to b3 for only 24 hours. I am credited with all these offer simultaneously. Because I had the data already that has been credited I was charged on that bundle for the social and internet activities. I had to call my ride as I was returning back to Jozi. At my surprise the calls were not charged on the R60 free artime but on my recharge airtime. I was surprised because they were supposed to charge me on the bundle that was going to expire. I made airtime balance inquiry, the R60 free airtime was not showing, meaning I only saw it when I receivedthe message that they had credited me with that.
I decided to query this on X App. They asked me to DM with details for assistance which I did. This is the response from their agent/consultant calling himself/herself PN
'According to the system, the bonus airtime amount of R60 was used on the internet at 11:51 am on 31-01-2025. This happened before you could enable the MTN Out of Data Bundle setting ~PN 9:17 pm'
I enever activated/enabled thatvMTN Out of Data Bundle settings. I was getting charged on my data while was busy on internet, WhatsApp and Twitter. Why would MTN charge me charge me on airtime bundle when I have data bundle. I responded to agent telling him/her that I never fiddled with any data settings and if this was the case that they charge on airtime when thise settings are done they must have continued to charge me on my recharge airtime because I did not mess or temper with those settings. Your agents must know their story and don't lie, or maybe that's what they were trained on if not that the person did not understand the system he/she was using. I know MTN is greedy from long time ago when they were the first to stop the use of the then-BIS for Blackberry phone when you on their network and made even BlackBerry users buy the data bumdles. Don't lie and mislead us into believing you have things for mahala that you offer as specials if you are not going to give that.
