Low credit limit

I was told today that my credit limit is R300 when just the other day I was approved by mtn for a galaxy s8 plus for R779. Please can someone explain how they get their numbers because I earn more than enough to afford any phone and I have good credit history. Please help.

Kindly note that the Credit Limit serves as a vetting tool during the credit assessment process when applying for a new contract. The Credit Limit is set according to the affordability of a customer, in line with their Credit Rating.

The credit limit on your account is determined after your credit history and rating has been evaluated in accordance to the National Credit Act.
