Losing a loyal customer of 20 years

I have been a customer for over 20 years. I was recently a victim of a ****, where the ********** pretending to be from MTN call centre managed to get on to my account. They then bought R7500 worth of data and tried to move the data from my account. As this was happening I alerted MTN and then followed their steps to stop what was happening. After being told my account was safe the ********** continued minutes later. This carried on all day, after countless calls to MTN call centre, trying to stop what was happening. I had to remove them from my account at least 50 times that day. Eventually the next morning I asked MTN to deactivate my number. I then reactivated at a MTN store. I managed to stop them from taking the R7500 of data. I have asked MTN to please take the data back and please not charge me. My monthly account averages about R650. Now this months bill is sitting on over R8000. MTN has completely ignored my complaint, had I lost all the data I could understand. I now sit with R7500 of data that is going to expire. And a bill of over R8000! The stress of being a victim of cyber crime is scary to say the least, and the one company who can help u, turns a blind eye! This very disheartening for a loyal customer of over 20 years.

No reply from MTN. I was charged the R7500 on Tuesday. Wednesday I have cancelled my contract. Moving to Vodacom. I have also encouraged and will continue to encourage my friends and family to do the same. 20 years of loyalty means nothing these days.
