Looks like MTN doesn't want to give my data back

To Whom It May Concern

On 29 November 2019, I realized that I ran out of data on my contract and I would only receive my monthly data on 12 December which was exactly in 2 weeks time. I decided to use the new MTN App to purchase some data that I could use for 2 weeks and the App had a special promotion of R149 for 2GB + 1.5GB Free VALID for 14 Days. I tried to purchase but my usage limit was too low, so I first had to increase it from R49.00 to R200.00 and then afterwards I managed to successfully purchased the data & received an sms as proof of purchase. Unfortunately, I made a mistake and never read the sms thoroughly which stated that the data I purchased would be valid until ***6 at 23:59:59 which was only 1 week. Since I didn't ready correctly I did not query and only realized this mistake once the data was cut off and was advised on this mistake by an MTN consultant. Initially the person had a very bad attitude and did not want to log a ticket on my behalf because she said it was my mistake that I did not read the sms and that MTN would not give my data back. However, I still have screenshots of all sms's and also made a screenshot of the offer on the new MTN App which clearly shows that the special offer was for 14 days. Eventually the consultant advised that she logged a ticket. I wait a few days and no one came back with an update so I called again to find the new consultant cannot find the ticket. I then logged a new ticket with reference number SMC***. This issue has been logged for more than a month and not on one occasion has anyone given me any update and whenever I call someone advises that the issue is being looked into but it keeps getting pushed to different departments but someone should call me in 2 days and I've done this about 3 to 4 times and the same story. I realize that the sms I received showed that the data was going to be valid for 7 days but that is not what I bought on the App and I don't think it is fair that I should be liable for something I did not purchase. I mean really, such a big company can't give back about 1.5GB to 2GB of data that they took. Unfortunately, you can't advertise something and then give something else to the customer that they did not purchase and then not respond to the customer for such a long time. It is pathetic service and I've been a loyal customer of MTN for a very very long time.

Cheers
