Legal Department Debacle

Hi. My account on my data stick was transferred to MTN earlier this year as Autopage closed down.

I received my first statement 3 months after the transfer. It was a huge amount and i couldnt afford to pay in one go. I contacted the call centre and asked for a breakdown of the latest invoice which i never received. i also made arrangements for payment of the arrear amount and ensured that MTN had my email details for invoices to be sent monthly.

Lo and behold, my next invoice and statement arrived 3 months later. when i called the centre they said that my account was with the legal department but i couldnt contact the legal department but a note will be sent via the system to the legal department to contact me. I didnt receive any feedback from them for a week so i phoned the call centre again and and was told that they will again send a note to the legal department. This time i asked the agent to include my email details on the note.

I then received an email from Nonhlanhla Hadebe of the legal department informing me of the amount payable. I duly paid the amount via eft. About a week later i was contacted by what i believe was MTN's collection agency about my overdue account. i told them that i had paid and was asked to email proof of pament. i did this but was phoned again a few days later and told that they did not receive proof of payment. i checked their email address and resent the proof of payment. A few days later they had not received proof of payment and i was told that they would give me another email address to send the proof. i didnt hear from them again.

Last week i received a statment from MTN with just the current amounts owing. So to me it seemed that the problem of the overdue amounts was solved but i couldnt use my data stick. So i called the call centre to find out what was going on and was told that my account was with legal. She gave me the phone number of legal but when i called them they said i was not on record. Then i found out hat the number that i was given was for the outsourced collection agency.

i am now tired of calling MTN and want someone to contact me to sort my issues out.

Thank you

Ashwin
