Legal Action Taken For Device not Recieved
On 8th August 2017 I app**** for a contact with MTN via their website, The process for the application was quick and moved rather and I was totally impressed by how fast the application process was,
I app**** for a port and was advised that I will receive the device within 2 weeks and that the port will take place as soon a receive the device.
Two weeks passed by and my then number was already ported, however I did not receive the device. I then emailed the consultant that helped me to advise her that I am still waiting on the device and that my number has been ported already and she has to contact me on an alternative number. She called me to advise that I should have some patience as they are currently in the process of moving to a new delivery company and therefore there are delays in deliveries and she will advise the delivery company of my new cellphone number they have to contact me for delivery.
I then waited a few weeks and it was now September and I have exchanged a couple of emails with Mpho with no efficient outcome. I then decided to go to the MTN store in Century City to ask for assistance and the in-store consultant, Taufeeq, escalated the matter to the Manganger in the Online department. I went to the store at least twice a week for about a few weeks and in this time MTN sent me my bill but no money was deducted from my account.
As there was no outcome from the escalation to the Online Manager, I went into the Store in October 2017 and advised Taufeeq that I want to cancel my contract as it has not started and I did not activate the number as of yet and he advised that he will escalate. By the end of October the bill for two months was deducted from my account and I went into the store and told Taufeeq about this and he advised that he I should reverse the money. As I was a bit hesitant to this I contact Mpho and she also advised that I should reverse the money at the bank. I did this and a week later I went into the store to ask about the cancellation and .Taufeeq advised that it was successful/
Months went by and I heard nothing from MTN and in March 2018, I receive a call from MTN's lawyers advising me that I owe them. I then went into the store in Century City in Canal Walk where it was confirmed, that the device is in the warehouse and that the number to my cellphone was not activated and another escalation was sent off, by Nondumiso. In August 2018 I receive another threat from MTN's lawyers, saying I owe them R 8 469,65 . and immediately called the contact centre and spoke to Nkosinathi. I requested to speak to higher management and was advised that there are no team leaders or managers and she opened the following ticket, 1- ********** 6727, for team leader to call me back. There after I went to Taufeeq to speak to him and he advised that he is going to escalate and call me back in a week. I never receive the call from the team leader as Nkosinathi promised and never received the call from Taufeeq.
Thereafter I have sent Taufeeq two emails and he has still not responded to me. I have called the store where Taufeeq works and he is always on lunch whenever I call. I have contacted Nkosinathi to call me back and still have not received a response.
Hereby it is clear to see that the employees at MTN are reluctant to help you when things get tough and incapable of finding a solution for the matter at hand. They give the company a bad name and I will never recommend MTN as service provider to anyone.
