TIA!

I have a cellular contract with #MTN just for the convenience of having the same number and data whenever I visit SA!

Previously with MTN through Altech Autopage, which to my sadness closed, because I have NEVER experienced such poor service in my life.

In December while traveling abroad my phone was ****** along with my active SIM card.

Now back in SA 8 months later, I go to MTN and request a SIM swap. I hand in a letter of the contract holder in conformity with safety requirements, his ID and proof of residence at the Centurion mall based MTN. I wait from 12.30 on 10th August (rebooting my phone/ removing and inserting the SIM card almost hourly) until 9 am the following day. I call the number on my receipt and am informed it is a technical issue that should take 24h so I should continue to wait until 12.30, so I do...and nothing happens.

Whilst in Menlyn Mall I go to MTN that afternoon (the main store on the 1st floor) where I was helped by a very friendly lady who told me that she had no info on the system of the sim swap and that maybe MTN on level 3 can help because they are an agent and their system is linked to the Centurion store's.
She said I should request a new (free) sim swap and it should work.

By now I'm pretty aggravated but accept the explanation and make my way to the 3rd floor.
Now the REAL fun starts.

As I walk into a deserted shop with only one assistant and not one single client in it...I should have guessed it was a sign of their efficiency.
I'm greeted by a very bored Michele Roberts.

I explain the above partially as I'm interrupted by her quickly asking if I have a letter.

I explained to Michelle that I obviously don't walk around with duplicates or carbon copies of the letter which I handed in the day before because you know, us normal people tend to expect the people you pay for a service to at least do their job well done.

Before I can continue SHE (as Michele refers to me later on while speaking to the manager) tells me there's nothing she can do without a letter.

Now, I can't phone Centurion because, well, I don't have a working phone. So surely:
Option 1: SHE could have said sorry about that, let my call our Centurion branch.
Option 2: SHE could have emailed asking for a copy of the letter or who knows maybe even a fax...I mean, I can handle that #MTN doesn't resort to PDF files and emails if ONLY they could fix my problem.

I request to speak to the manager. She rolls her eyes in a mumbled groan, gets up and goes to the office situated behind her desk.
"She says she wants to speak to you. But she says they have the letter...and she ... And she" and after that all I heard was blurred! I was ready to throw up!
SHE?! Really Michele Roberts? I was unaware we were acquainted, let alone buddies. But cool, maybe we can braai some wors at my place sometime! Bring the beer!

Then SHE comes back out and says my manager says the same. Like that. Uhmmm, hello, can he have the decency of talking to me himself?!
I know Menlyn is under renovation, it's crossed my mind that that particular store might be closing. Maybe Michele and the manager were going to be retrenched, who knows...But with that attitude I actually hope you don't get hired elsewhere...

Anyway...enough about her!
So I insist HE speaks to me himself. I patiently explain myself again and he just says, sorry, cant help.
Oh, HE has a name! Silly me! I also thought we were buddies here for a second!
So I ask Willem Brunkhorst for both their names and leave.

The following day (Friday the 12th August) I go back to Centurion where I was told that it's a technical problem that has been reported to MTN so it will be resolved "as quick as possible".

Soooo...today is Saturday, the 13th of August...72 hours later I still have no phone!
Please note I am complaining about TWO things here, the technical issue which is terrible. I pay for a service that I don't have.( I wonder if I'll get a 72hour credit on next months bill)
And the LACK of any sign of quality in Michele and Willem's customer service.
Everywhere else people were friendly, obviously not very efficient, but friendly so it makes it tolerable.

Any recommendations as to where I should transfer my contract? #CellC, #Vodakom, #Telkom?
